Abstract This article considers the fact that certain texts (books, notes) related to the statistical science with which it is currently intended to teach the subject in the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences dependent on the University of San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca notonlydonotfulfill theirguidingfunction, as a complementary resource to the teaching-learning process taught by the teacher in the classroom, but alsodo notconsiderthelevel of understandingof texts reached by the student to which they are addressed, which leads to several problems that lead to the student being a posteriori, can not apply or interpret statistical knowledge in daily or professional life. In this sense we analyze some characteristics of statistical science as knowledge; characteristics of written statistical resources;processofcomprehension of texts and the teaching of statistical science; and the process of understanding texts and the assimilation of statistical knowledge. After a process of analysis it is concluded that the statistical knowledge has as one of its most important resources bibliographical texts, but these have limitations in which above all highlights the fact that they do not go in line with the characteristics of the student segment to which they go directed. Among these diverse characteristics of students, highlights the equally diverse processes of understanding that should be analyzed by teachers when proposing bibliography that may far from contributing to meaningful knowledge, confuse it and delay it
