Introduction:

The CPO-D Index is one of the most common epidemiological indicators used to assess the prevalence of decayed, lost and filled teeth, it is defined in permanent dentition from 12 years of age and severity is interpreted according to established parameters; the objective is to determine the CPO-D Index in the adolescents of the educational units of the municipality of Colcapirhua. Methodology: it is a descriptive, cross-sectional, observational and prospective study, the population was made up of 2919 students from 12 to 17 years old, the technique used was observation, the data were collected by means of dental instruments, mirror and explorer and the Data were recorded in the dental clinical record. Results: a very high CPO-D index of 7.9 is reported in the information subjects, according to age at 15 years in the female sex it shows 10.2 being the most outstanding; 87.8% have teeth with caries, 17.4% are missing and 59.9% are filled. Discussions: Dental caries in adolescents, as in other countries, is high, but the ICPO-D in Bolivia and in particular in the study is very high, the values ​​obtained show that the CPO-D Index is very significant and needs intervention. This situation can be attributed to multiple factors that increase the tendency of this pathology, which continues to be a public health problem.
