The invention of artificial light brought many benefits to our modern society, however circadian cycles were no longer only affected by natural day light and darkness at night, but also by artificial light, which can cause disturbances in these. The purpose of this review is to give an overview of the interrelationship between light-circadian rhythms- physiology. It does not seek to delve into any of these aspects, since the information is quite extensive and it would not be practical to put it into a publication of this type.
