Abstract Oruro is a city and Bolivian town with a population of 264,943 inhabitants. At an altitude of 3,735 meters above sea level, is considered among the highest cities in the world. In order to rescue and protect the legacy of both geological and cultural history of Oruro and "generate added value" to the local economy through the design of geotourism routes involving existing museums in the area (Mineralogical; Mining; anthropological, and Rail) that collect geo-mining legacy, is that the creation of Oruro GEOPARK could become a new opportunity to "local development" is proposed. Through this research, we considered 14 elements: PIG (Point of Geological Interest), PIDGA (Points of Interest for the Teaching of Environmental Geology) and PIPM (Points of Interest Mining Heritage). It is then necessary to generate nominate the Geopark Oruro to the Global Geoparks Network GGN (UNESCO) documentation.
