MIRANDA CONDE, Melissa; ROQUE CONDORI, Paulino  y  TABORGA MANRIQUE, Ximena. Coping with Post-graduate Academic Stress, a Brief Look From the Scientific to the Ancestral. Edu. Sup. Rev. Cient. Cepies [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.3, pp.85-92. ISSN 2518-8283.  https://doi.org/10.53287/pdoe5245ww59j.

Stress has become a common disease caused by the lifestyle and activities of society and affects a large part of the world’s population. Although we have become accustomed to having it, it produces a large number of alterations, behavioral changes, and chronic exhaustion that contribute to premature death. This article aims to describe coping strategies against academic stress in postgraduate students, starting from a scientific perspective to an Aymara ancestral perspective. The method used was mainly documentary review, non-participatory observation and unstructured interviews with graduate students and Amautas in La Paz and El Alto were also used. The result was the identification of types of stress: eustress and distress, the most frequent stressors in postgraduate academic settings, such as task overload and limited time. A great diversity of stress-coping strategies was also identified, among which positive reappraisal and planning stand out. On the other hand, the strategies that are used, with their particularities, in the Aymara culture are also identified. In conclusion, the article highlights the importance of this topic and highlights the need to continue research on academic stress to provide support and tools to higher education students.
