The object of study of this theoretical article is scientific research as a structural and transversal component towards the integrality of knowledge. The intention is to make preliminary propositions about these components. The methodological procedure was guided by dialectics in the sense of overcoming apparent contradictions and in the same way in an effort of constant critical surveillance of the process of preparing the article. The contents addressed the problem of knowledge, the conceptual bases of structural and transversal-oriented research and how this affects the concept of science. There was also a reflection on interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and complexity as dialectical dimensions. Likewise, considerations were pointed out about the problems that contextualize the investigative activity in three disciplines to which the authors belong. The main finding has to do with the proposal of the transversal structuring path diagram translated into a methodology to enrich transdisciplinarity. This diagram presents research as a transversal element of interdisciplinary connection, in whose beginning, epistemology and philosophy become fundamental participants. The reflection on transversality and structurality of research, in a constant interdisciplinary interaction, can be a solution to the various knowledge problems that contribute to a complex, but more complete and, above all, comprehensive knowledge that accounts for the different dimensions of a phenomenon. of social reality.
