Abstract

ARCE ALAVE, Angela Marina; MEDINACELI TORREZ, Medeliz  and  MEDINACELI TORREZ, Rubén. Bolivian Public Universities in International Rankings: Analysis and Perspectives for Improvement. Edu. Sup. Rev. Cient. Cepies [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.2, pp.41-50. ISSN 2518-8283.  https://doi.org/10.53287wcjf5084dj73y.

This article examines the position of Bolivian public universities in international rankings and proposes prospects for improvement. The criteria used in the rankings are analyzed, such as academic quality, research and internationalization. The challenges faced by Bolivian universities in terms of research and academic quality are highlighted, and rankings such as the QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Academic Ranking of World Universities and Ranking Web of Universities are mentioned, emphasizing the position of some Bolivian universities in these lists. Likewise, the key factors that have contributed to the success of Brazilian universities in international rankings are analyzed, including investment in infrastructure and research teams, internationalization programs, encouragement of research, inclusion and equity policies, and links with the productive sector. However, it is pointed out that Bolivian universities face important challenges to improve their position in the rankings, such as the lack of investment in higher education, the need to promote research and teaching quality, and the link with the public sector and industry. In conclusion, improving the position of Bolivian universities in international rankings will require a comprehensive and coordinated approach between educational institutions, the government, and society as a whole. It is essential to invest in infrastructure and research equipment, promote internationalization, stimulate research, implement inclusion and equity policies, and strengthen the link with the productive sector. These efforts will contribute to raising the prestige and quality of higher education in Bolivia, boosting its recognition in the global arena.
