Abstract

SALAS, Valeria  and  CABRERA, Juan E.. AESTHETICS AND QUALITY OF LIFE: THE URBAN REHABILITATION PROGRAM "BARRIOS DE VERDAD". Inv. y Des. [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.2, pp.105-124.  Epub Dec 31, 2022. ISSN 2518-4431.  https://doi.org/10.23881/idupbo.022.2-6e.

Through the study of ten peripheral neighborhoods located on hillsides in the city of La Paz (Bolivia) and intervened between 2002 and 2018 by the "Barrios de Verdad" program, this paper contributes to the knowledge and understanding of the impact of physical interventions with an aesthetic approach developed through urban rehabilitation and neighborhood improvement programs of informal settlements. It explains how urban interventions focused on aesthetics have a relevant impact on the quality of life. In a complementary way, it also offers a method to investigate the objective and subjective conditions of quality of life in relation to urban interventions.
