LAGUNA TAPIA, Andrés. THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF ADAPTATION: THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CINEMA AND WRITTEN TEXT TO REPRESENT THE BOLIVIAN ETHOS. Inv. y Des. [online]. 2017, vol.2, n.17, pp.101-109. ISSN 1814-6333.
Since the beginnings, the relationship between cinema and literature has been strong. Bolivian film tradition is no exception. This paper reflect about it and about the (im)possibilities of the cinematographic adaptation, appealing to some concepts and ideas from authors like Gerard Genette, Robert Stam or Jacques Derrida. Also, this paper seeks to reveal if this relationship has been affected by the Bolivian sociohistorical context and if has contributed to the configuration of a national representation. Reviewing emblematic Bolivian films like, WaraWara, Jonah and the Pink Whale, American Visa and The Parents, problematizes the relevance of cinematographic adaptation in the construction of national subjects.
