Abstract

NAVARRETE LOPEZ, Emma Liliana  and  ROMAN SANCHEZ, Yuliana Gabriela. School opportunities for young people in two mexican cities. Revista de coyuntura y perspectiva [online]. 2019, vol.4, n.2, pp.19-52. ISSN 2415-0622.

Abstract The cities are different in terms of extension, population and resources. The opportunities they offers are also different. This article analyzes two Mexican cities, and the objective is to know the probability that young people don´t leave scholl, according to the fact that the school is a space that integrates them into society. A binary logistic regression model is estimated to find the weight of the variables (individual, family and contextual) that influence school attendance, using data for 2015. The results show the importance of the regional and economic context that makes the difference further harming some youth groups.

Keywords : Urban youth; school attendance; Mexico; Acapulco, Chihuahua.
