Resumen

VAZQUEZ RUIZ, Miguel Angel. Mexico: neo - extractive mining and regional sequels in the territory. Revista de coyuntura y perspectiva [online]. 2017, vol.2, n.2, pp.181-214. ISSN 2415-0622.

Abstract Mining is a centuries-old economic activity in the history of man. Minerals have not only been the basic raw material for the production of means of production, but also for ornament and protection of monetary value. Mexico is a country rich in solid, liquid and gaseous minerals and in particular excels in the production of metallic minerals such as gold, silver and copper. Of the diversity in the mining location, the territory of the center-north of the country stands out. The mining activity for its exploration and exploitation demands several chemical substances, which if not properly managed, run the risk of becoming contaminating agents of the territory and of the communities where the mineral deposits are located. Under the conceptualization of neoxtractivism, this work offers information and analysis of the effects caused by acidified copper sulphate spillage in a region of northern Mexico.
