Abstract Partial results of the research work "Public policies on security, relation to fear of crime and trustin public security institutions in the municipality of Zapotlán el Grande" are presented, its objective to determine correlation between "fear of crime" and "socio-economic level", based on a quantitative non-experimental, cross-cutting and correlational investigation. Obtaining that 55% of the population expressed a lot of fear of crime (abstract aspect), in addition the socio-economic level that predominates is the "médium high and high" in 47.83% and 10.83% of the population is in the socio-economic level "working low class", concluding that there is a correlation between fear of crime and the socio-economic level of a negative type, and a positive correlation between socioeconomic level and perception of effectiveness.
