Abstract

HUANACUNI MAMANI, Fernando. The Rights of Mother Earth. Rev. Jur. Der. [online]. 2016, vol.3, n.4, pp.157-169. ISSN 2413-2810.

Changes of the Plurinational State have emerged from a logic based on the worldview of the native indigenous peoples that refers to the relationship with the environment, which prioritizes life and seeks balance and harmony. In this regards, understanding that Mother Earth as a being, not as an object, is a part of the new way of conceiving the relationship with our environment. When considering the Declaration of Rights of Mother Earth a new paradigm of life is generated; a new logic of relationship. The life guidelines are not consider anthropocentric anymore, therefore policies of States should respond to this view. Reconstitution of the ancestral way of thinking about life and the importance of a harmonious relationship with Mother Earth begins with the reformation of the worldview of the native indigenous peoples, who perceive Mother Earth, not as a resource, but as a being, as a mother who generates life.

Keywords : Worldview; new paradigm; Rights of Mother Earth; native indigenous peoples.
