Content of Total Polyphenols, Anthocyanins and Antioxidant Activity in Blueberries Native (Vaccinium floribundum H.B.K) to the Andean Region. RIIARn [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.3, pp.48-55. Native blueberry grows wild in the South Americans Andeans, the fruit is consumed mainly for its pleasant sensory characteristics. The aims of the research were to determine the content of total polyphenols, anthocyanins, and antioxidant capacity in native blueberry fruits from the Tambogan and Llacon districts of the Huánuco Region of Peru. Samples of native blueberries were collected, and the content of total polyphenols, anthocyanins, and antioxidant activity were evaluated using the DPPH and ABTS techniques. The native blueberry fruits from the two study areas reported higher content of total polyphenols and anthocyanins and ABTS cation sequestration. In contrast, the antiradical activity against DPPH of the commercial blueberry was higher than that of the native blueberries. In conclusion, due to their intrinsic characteristics, native blueberries are emerging as a food resource with excellent antioxidant benefits.
