ESPEJO QUISPE, Félix  y  POZO VELAZQUEZ, Edilberto. Identification of weeds associated with the cultivation of sábila (Aloe vera barbadensis M.), in the department of La Paz, Bolivia. RIIARn [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.2, pp.7-14. ISSN 2409-1618.  https://doi.org/10.53287/akmo9760po36m.

In Bolivia, in the municipality of Mecapaca, department of La Paz, the community of Cahuayuma is recognized for the production of certified organic Aloe vera without the use of synthetic pesticides for more than 10 years, obtaining good quality leaves and gel. Therefore, weeds are one of the main problems that affect the productivity and quality of the leaves of the Aloe crop and it is considered necessary to know the biological cycle and ecology of these species, to carry out a correct management of weeds. The objective of this study was to determine the weed species associated with the cultivation of Aloe vera with organic certification in the community of Cahuayuma. To achieve this objective, two plots were visited, and we proceeded to collect samples and photograph the different species of weeds that were found within the plot with the Aloe cultivation. The identification of weeds was carried out according to the description and taxonomic classification supported by a bibliographic review. The result of this investigation showed 46 species of weeds in 17 botanical families, of which Asteraceae with 26.09 % presented the highest number with 12 species and Brassicaceae with 10.87 %.
