Abstract

ROQUE, Z; GUTIERREZ, E  and  CONDORI, V. Evaluation of the productive behavior of guinea pigs (Cavia aparea porcellus) of both sexes, fed with different levels of "cuy-pack", at the Kallutaca Experimental Station. RIIARn [online]. 2021, vol.8, n.3, pp.125-131. ISSN 2409-1618.  https://doi.org/10.53287/udcv7355id98z.

The research was carried out at the Kallutaca Experimental Station of the Agronomy Engineering Career, located in the municipality of Laja, in the department of La Paz, over a period of 9 weeks. The need to find alternative sources for guinea pig production, justifies the use of additives and supplements for the preparation of rations, under this effect arises the main objective of evaluating the productive behavior of guinea pig (Cavia aparea porcellus) breeding, under the effect of three levels of cuy-pack in the feed diet, during the stages of growth and fattening. For the present study, 64 guinea pigs were used, distributed in a complete randomized design with factorial arrangement. Factor A cuy-pack levels and factor B sex (male and female). The results show that the cuy-pack does not affect the effective feed intake. The best feed conversion was recorded in treatment T3 with 4.30 g g-1, the sex factor showed a better assimilation of the balanced ration in females with 5.34 g g-1. The highest average daily gain was recorded in treatment T3, with a growth rate of 5.86 g day-1. In relation to accumulated weight gain, the T3 treatment achieved a gain of 376.17 g. The best carcass yield showed the T3 treatment with 68.22 %, where males had a higher carcass yield with 67.21 %. The 0.60% level of cuy-pack is recommended for application in the guinea pig feed ration.
