TERAN CESPEDES, René. Technical means of tillage, their tenure, use and source of energy for family farming in the municipality of Pucarani. RIIARn [online]. 2021, vol.8, n.3, pp.99-112. ISSN 2409-1618.  https://doi.org/10.53287/dquq5523fv53l.

In general, family farming that develops in the west of the country is characterized by the widespread use of human power and draft animals, while the driving force that, although it has been increasing its presence, is not the source of more generalized energy. In this context, an investigation has been carried out to know the particularities of the possession of agricultural machines and the use of the different energy sources applied to agriculture, in the municipality of Pucarani of the department of La Paz, applying surveys and interviews to a representative sample of producers in the different communities of its three Zones: Center, South and North. Inventory variables of the different Technical Tillage Means (MTL, by its acronym in Spanish) and their use and the required energy source have been investigated. The research has enable to have an inventory of the main agricultural tools and machines used in the area, identifying their main uses and in what activities and energy sources; the findings on the introduction of the tractor in the productive activities were also important. In general, the results showed that in recent years the use of motive force has increased, reaching 54%, human force 36% and animal force only 10%. These values were calculated considering all the hours dedicated to primary and secondary tillage activities in the different crops produced in the municipality. These results would show that the introduction of the tractor has not followed a strategy based on a diagnosis of the area, since it would be expected that human force will reduce more and make a more balanced use of animal force, which would result in greater productivity.
