Resumen

VALAREZO BELTRON, Carlos Oswaldo et al. Characterization of lemon (Citrus aurantifolia) producing farms in Portoviejo, Ecuador. RIIARn [online]. 2020, vol.7, n.1, pp.88-94. ISSN 2409-1618.

Abstract The lemon is a very important crop in the town Portoviejo, (Ecuador) because there is an extensive and concentrated area within it, a large part of the total consumed in Ecuador of this fruit is produced in said area that has scarce updated information on producers who have lowyields and poortechnological development. In orderto characterize the subtle lemon producing farms, a structured survey was applied to 102 producers with sociocultural, economic and ecological variables, being subjected to the discriminant analysis of conglomerates. The lemon producing farms in Portoviejo have different characteristics, from a social, economic and environmental point of view. With the analysis of conglomerates it was established that there are three groups, the most numerous being group 2, which brings together 56% of the farms studied, followed by group 1 (26%) and group 3 (18%). The analysis of variance showed statistical differences between the groups for the variables plantation density, number of commercialization routes, predominant slope, areas of conservation zones, basic services, social integration, technological knowledge-ecological awareness.
