Abstract

PUMALPA MENESES, Daniela; CANTARO SEGURA, Hector; ESTRADA CANARI, Richard  and  HUARINGA JOAQUIN, Amelia. Phenotypic and agronomic characterization of advanced lines of voluble beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) resistant to viruses in Perú. RIIARn [online]. 2020, vol.7, n.1, pp.7-20. ISSN 2409-1618.

Abstract Sixty-three advanced lines of climbing bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) resistant to Bean common mosaic virus (BCMV) and Bean common mosaic necrosis virus (BCMNV) were evaluated in order to phenotypically and agronomically characterize in coast and highlands of Peru. To achieve the lines were sowed in observation plots at coast, using 42 descriptors from IBPGR for phenotypic characterization. In highlands, performance trials was sowing with nine selected lines for white and yellow beans in association with maize; under randomized block design with three replications. The presence of virus was determined with the CIAT scale. The results showed that the MBC 53 line stood out for having a good effect, pods, small, medium, white, oval and brightness grain with a yield of 863 kg ha-1 more than the other lines evaluated and the witness. MBC 111 line of yellow grain showed excellent vigor, pods on top of the plant, increased number of grains per pod, pods per plant and yield of 1256 kg ha-1. Virus was observed in the field, however 78% of white bean lines no showed symptoms, while the MBC53 and MBC 80 lines were doubtful symptoms. In the yellow vean lines symptoms were absent for MBC 109 and MBC 111; weak to MBC 106 and MBC 110, moderate to MBC 87 and the other lines.
