Abstract

NINA LUQUE, Edwin Luis  and  FERNANDEZ CHAVEZ, Celia. Use of two production methods under three seeding densities in the green hydroponic barley crop (Hordeum vulgare L.) in greenhouse. RIIARn [online]. 2017, vol.4, n.2, pp.48-55. ISSN 2409-1618.

Currently, FVH production is an alternative to obtain green fodder in less time and in deficit period. The objective of the study was to improve the production of the FVH using three planting densities in relation to two production methods in the barley crop. The study was carried out at the Cota Cota Experimental Station under the Faculty of Agronomy of the Major San Andrés University. The pre-germination methods of Tarrillo and FAO were used under three planting densities, resulting in six treatments that were arranged under a completely randomized blocks design with bifactorial arrangement, also the Duncan test was performed forthe results of the variables plant height, root length, biomass yield and percentage of dry matter. The results show that there are statistical differences in height of plant, differences between the methods used, with better response by the method of Tarrillo with an average of 8.33 cm and a density of 2.5 kg m-2 according to the Duncan test, in As forthe length of the root there are differences, with the densityofsowing of2.5 kg m-2the length of the root was 13.51 cm, with the same density ofsowing with the method of Tarrillo, the yield of biomass was 7.8 kg 0.5 m-2 The percentage of dry matter was 64.96%, indicating that neither the density nor the type of pre-germinative method influences this variable. The green hydroponic forage obtained in the research had between 10% and 11% of crude protein. These results show that the Tarrillo method combined with the sowing density of 2.5 kg m-2 shows better results for obtaining FVH that can be used for livestock feed.
