Abstract

JIMENEZ VISCARRA, Gustavo Ruddy; PENAFIEL RODRIGUEZ, Mario Wilfredo; GUTIERREZ GONZALES, Eddy Diego  and  FLORES ESPINOZA, Ronald. Evaluation of the nutritional stress "Flushing" in the reproductive indexes of nulliparous and primiparous mestizo sows. RIIARn [online]. 2017, vol.4, n.1, pp.92-97. ISSN 2409-1618.

In the last years, technologies have been implemented in the swine activity in order to improve breeding systems and techniques. The main objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of nutritional stress Flushing in the reproductive rates of nulliparous and primiparous crossbred gilts, 16 crossbred sows were used eight nulliparous (gilts) and eight primiparous (first birth) that were distributed in four treatments Four replicates and one sow per replicate. The experimental model used was the completely randomized design, with factorial arrangement considering the number of delivery and the Flushing effect. The variables evaluated were reproductive, productive and partial benefit-cost ratio. The results showed that there are significant differences in the indices corresponding to litter size, live weight and average piglet weight at birth. For indices in estrus, pregnancy rate, mortality rate lactation, interval between weaning and covering no significant differences, but differences numerical minimum. As for the economic analysis the treatment "nulliparous sows with Flushing" presented better production and greater profitability with 0.234 USD in the partial benefit-cost relation. When performing an analysis of the results, it is concluded that using Flushing technique in gilts and first parity sows an average of 22.5 piglets were achieved relative to 17.25 when Flushing is not applied, therefore the technical subject to study allows for five more sows as a final result.

Keywords : Reproduction of sows; management of sows and first sow birth; body condition; litter size.
