Abstract

FLORES MANCILLA, Wily Marco. Determination of soil suitability for coffee cultivation (Coffea arábica) in the región of Pongo Pampa and Agrotakesi in the Municipality Yanacachi province South Yungas department of La Paz. RIIARn [online]. 2017, vol.4, n.1, pp.40-52. ISSN 2409-1618.

In the research area is the company AGROTAKESI S.A. Which is dedicated to the production and marketing of coffee to different markets, with this background is intended to expand coffee production in the sectors Pongo Pampa and Agrotakesi, followed methodological steps to determine the areas of research, proceeded to take samples of Soil analysis, physical-chemical fitness analysis of soil for coffee cultivation, optimum altitudinal determination for coffee cultivation based on digital elevation models, these criteria allowed to make technical observations regarding coffee cultivation in both research sectors. The results show the identification of six series: Loma Baja, Loma Media, Loma Alta, Lower Hill, Middle Hill and Pongo Pampa Hill, the Loma Baja series with 86 ha shows the most favorable characteristics for coffee cultivation, Corresponding amendments in particular the very acid pH and the high contení of Al. The series: Loma Alta, Lower Hill, Middle Hill, Pongo Pampa Hill with an approximate surface of 525 ha, are classified as non-agricultural soils, consequently they are important Value as protection soils, forest reserve and wildlife protection. In the soils of the Agrotakesi sector, the Livinosa series is considered as protection soils, forest reserve and wildlife protection. The soils of the La Finca series have nutritional deficiencies for coffee cultivation, but there are still productive plots of this crop, with the appropriate amendments, conditions favorable to the crop can be restored. The soils of the El Pico series are not recommended for coffee cultivation, the implementation of other crops should be considered.
