RAMIREZ OCHOA¹, David Erick; CHIPANA RIVERA², René  and  ECHENIQUE QUEZADA², Marco Antonio. Application of Biol and drip irrigation in different crops of cañahua (Chenopodium pallidicaule Aellen) atthe Experimental Station Choquenaira. RIIARn [online]. 2016, vol.3, n.1, pp.30-38. ISSN 2409-1618.

Abstract In Bolivia the importance of cañahua crop lies in its high nutritional value, protein content, crude fiber, carbohydrates and minerals. The crop grows in high and cold areas of the Highlands, and it even adapts to higher altitudes as is tolerant to frosts. lt is known that the use of Biol (organic fertilizer made with processed manure) has advantages in organic production because it contains nutrients that stimulate the growth, development and yield of plants. In that sense, the effect of the application of cattle Biol, in three cañahua varieties, (Condornaira, Orange ecotype and Lasta Orange ecotype), was evaluated under a drip ferti-irrigation system in the Experimental Station Choquenaira (Bolivian Altiplano). The methodology consisted of a statistical analysis of 15 treatments under the randomized blocks design, with split plots arrangements. The studyfactorswere the fertirrigationinphenologicalphasesofthe three cañahua varieties. The considered study variables are days to flowering, harvest index, weight of hundred grains and grain hectoliter weight test. The results show that the application of Biol had significant effects on the phases of branching and green cover, during the development of plant height, the Condornaira variety and the Orange ecotype responded better to the application of Biol. Also in the stage of inflorescence, physiological maturity was reached at 113 days with the application of Biol, while it was reached at 152 days with rainfed cultivation. The results show that families in the region can increase their income with the use of local materials and low investment for obtaining Biol, which allows to obtaining higher and earlier yields, which added to the application of drip irrigation, allows for the efficient use of irrigation water that is so scarce in the region.
