Abstract

MARINO-POMA, Magdalena1*; LOZA-MURGUIA, Manuel Gregorio1,2,3  and  PAXIPATI-PARRA, Rolando Cesar¹. Biochemical characteristics of postcoital intrauterine seminal plasma in llamas (Lama glama L.). J.Selva Andina Anim. Sci. [online]. 2019, vol.6, n.1, pp.17-23. ISSN 2311-2581.

Abstract Attempts to cryopreserve semen in southamerican camelids have so far been unsatisfactory. There is a lack of information about the biochemical components of ejaculated semen and its high viscosity that prevents the use of genetic material. The objective of this research was to analyze the composition of the intrauterine seminal plasma and by postcoital aspiration in flames. Six male 3 and 4 year oíd llamas were selected, the collection of semen was made by postcoital aspiration with the proctoscope of human use, deposited in a falcon tube of 14 mL after copulation. The semen was centrifuged at 2800 rpm/15 min, for later analysis in the laboratory, commercial kits (Beckman Coulter and Medicon), and two automatic analyzers (Beckman Sxjnchron Cx7 Deltay Pictus 500 Diatron) were used. For the analysis of the data, it was carried out using the t-Student test. There was no statistical difference for the concentrations of albumin, glucose, triglycerides, total protein, micro protein, cholesterol, alkaline phosphatase, sodium, calcium and magnesium between ages (p≥0.05), the potassium concentration reported valúes of 10.8 ± 0.56 and 9.76 ± 0.64 mEq / L, being statistically different between ages (p≤0.05). The results of the research allow us to work with 3- and 4-year-old llamas for semen donors in artificial insemination programs with fresh semen.
