Introduction.
Connectivism is a learning theory, a fundamental element in the contemporary educational system and nowadays, it is difficult to conceive an educative institution without its application. The connectivism was formulated in 2004. However, due to the COVID-19 health emergency presented worldwide in 2020, it becomes essential to continué education, since physical classrooms became into virtual spaces. This situation caused that the population worldwide, and particularly Ecuador incorporates different technological tools in education, business and social fields. Nevertheless, this process has had its challenges mainly due to the limitations of access to technological resources in classrooms and forthe students.
Objective.
To analyze the influence of connectivism within the educational system in Ecuador.
Methodology.
Bibliographic review of scientific literature, non-experimental qualitative study.
Results.
The presence of connectivism in Ecuador is significant, making it easier for students to obtain current and contextualized information regardless of the topic they are studying. The positive impacts of connectivism includes: the adoption of Information and Communication Technologies and the technological generation. Among the challenges, technological access limitations for students, teachers' resistance to change, unsystematized training and dependence on resources such as electricity still remains to be solved. However, with an appropriate implementation strategy for connectivism, a change in the curriculum for learning would be achieved through networks, promoting more autonomous and dynamic learning environments.
Conclusión.
For the implementation of connectivism in the Ecuadorian context, it is important to analyze the key aspects that influence its implementation and its potential limitations. Its implementation can promote interconnection between different regions, cultures, and communities, which is a crucial element for students to advance alongside with their peers around the world. The main limitation for connectivism implementation is the geographic context and the unequal digital access that are still present in the country.
