Abstract

MAMANI, MARISEL; GONZALES, EDUARDO  and  MAMANI, BENIGNO. Evaluación de la actividad anti-Helicobacter pylori del Aceite Esencial y Acido Ursólico de Clinopodium bolivianum (Khoa) por el método de impregnación de disco. Rev.Cs.Farm. y Bioq [online]. 2014, vol.2, n.1, pp.39-48. ISSN 2310-0265.

Helicobacter pylori are a bacterium that has a direct relationship with the development of gastroduodenal disease. It is estimated that over 50 % of the world population is infected with this bacterium. The therapy used to eradicate the bacteria fails by more than 20 %, mainly due to the generation of resistance to commercial antibiotics. Thus, itis importantto control this disease, finding new treatments and / or compounds which are more specific, less toxic and easily accessible to the population. Medicinal plants are potential sources for the discovery and development of new agents effective against infection by this bacterium. In the area of Pharmacology, Institute of Drug Biochemical Research, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Biochemical carried outseveral studies on the plants of the Bolivian herbal medicine, in this case by conducting studies on the secondary metabolites of plants to natural therapeutics, based on traditional medicine. . In recent years the use of traditional medicine for the treatment of common human diseases has increased, however the traditional knowledge provided medical and / or healers are empirical and transmitted from generation to generation whose treatment based on practice and observation. These treatments do not have a scientific basis to prove their pharmacological efficacy. For this reason it should be scientifically validate the effect of medicinal plants, to identify the active ingredients and their activity against Helicobacter pylori. The present study is the evaluation of the essential oil and UrsolicAcid from Clinopodium bolivianum, which do not have studies of anti - Helicobacter pylori activity.

Keywords : Helicobacter pylori; Clinopodium bolivianum; Ursolic acid; essential oil.
