Abstract

ESPINOZA, BORIS, A; SALAMANCA, EFRAÍN, A  and  FLORES, NINOSKA, A. Fraccionamiento bioguiado de las hojas de Piper hispidum Swartz. Rev.Cs.Farm. y Bioq [online]. 2013, vol.1, n.1, pp.29-36. ISSN 2310-0265.

Fractionation of ethanol extract of leaves of Piper hispidum Swartz were isolated and identified four products previously founds in bibliography, but first reported in this species: P1 (5-hydroxy-7, 4 '-dimetoxiflavanone), P2 (caryophyllene oxide), P3 (sphatulenol) and P4 (trans-phytol). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of data from 1H and13C NMR, including heteronuclear correlations HSQC, HMBC and comparison with the literature found. Leishmanicidal activity of the compounds was tested against two strains of Leishmania: L. amazonensis, L. braziliensis. The results showed that flavanone (5-hydroxy-7, 4'-dimetoxiflavanona) with IC50= 14.1 and 13.1 μg/mL, and terpene (caryophyllene oxide) with IC50 = 36.7 and 26.8 μg/mL were moderately active compared with Amphotericin B IC50 = 0.21 and 0.09 μg/mL for both strains.

Keywords : Piper hispidum Sw; flavanone; caryophyllene oxide; sphatulenol; trans-phytol; leishmanicide.
