Abstract

DE LA CRUZ VEGA, Sleyther Arturo  and  VEGA NEYRA, Ccori Siello. Comparison of semi-empirical methods for determining the bearing capacity of foundation soils for single-family houses. J. Selva Andina Biosph. [online]. 2023, vol.11, n.2, pp.142-149.  Epub Nov 01, 2023. ISSN 2308-3867.  https://doi.org/10.36610/j.jsab.2023.110200142.

There are currently many methods for determining the allowable capacity of soil in the field of geotechnics, all of which are valid. However, there is very little information on the variations in the data obtained. The purpose of this research was to compare semi-empirical methods for obtaining the allowable capacity of soil. The results obtained, by the Terzaghi, Meyerhof, Hansen et al. and Vésic methods, yielded results of bearing capacity 2.44, 2.85, 2.33 and 2.39 kg cm-2 respectively and it is concluded that the method that obtained the lowest allowable bearing capacity was Hansen et al. 33 kg cm-2) while the method that obtained the highest allowable load capacity was Meyerhof (2.85 kg cm-2), it is concluded that all the methods are in an acceptable range of variation, but the one that should be used for the design of single-family houses is the method of Hansen et al, which has a lower capacity and therefore the design will be more structured.
