Abstract

VIVAS-CARMONA, Luis Enrique  and  ASTUDILLO GARCIA, Dilcia Herminia. Population fluctuation of the rice bride (Rupela albinella) in Calabozo, Guárico State, Venezuela. J. Selva Andina Biosph. [online]. 2022, vol.10, n.1, pp.7-20.  Epub May 01, 2022. ISSN 2308-3867.  https://doi.org/10.36610/j.jsab.2022.100100007.

Population studies of insect, (Rupela albinella Cramer) were performed using a light trap located in the Centre of Agricultural Research INIA Calabozo, Guárico state, from 2001 to 2017. The objectives of this study were to study the population dynamics of the insect R. albinella and the ratio of the population with five climatic factors, information provided by the Climatology section of the same center. Rice cultivation in Calabozo presents the species R. albinella secondary important pest during the winter, reaching population peaks during the months of April and May in the years of study. Also, statistical significance between insect populations with the low temperature (p ≤ 0.0001) was found, no significant relationship resulting with average and high temperature, evaporation and precipitation. These results suggest: high abundance of R. albinella could respond positively to rainfall conditions and abundance of high quality food resources.
