Abstract

The present work was carried out in the Colón and Río Chico districts, Portoviejo, Manabí province, Ecuador during 2018. The objective was to evaluate the environmental and social sustainability of the producing subtle lemon farms. It is required with a population of 500 lemon producers, from which an unrestricted random sample {n = 102} is required. Producers were grouped according to the size of their property in Farm I (0.5-1 ha.), Farm II: (1-5 ha), Farm III (Greater than 5 ha). The methodology proposed by Sarandón adapted for lemon producing farms that considers the environmental and social dimensions was used. It was found that 81.37% of the farms were environmentally sustainable. All farms were sustainable in the social dimension.
