Abstract

VIVAS-CARMONA, Luis Enrique  and  ASTUDILLO-GARCIA, Dilcia Herminia. Population fluctuation of Trigonotylus tenuis in rice in Calabozo, Guárico State, Venezuela. J. Selva Andina Biosph. [online]. 2017, vol.5, n.2, pp.80-93. ISSN 2308-3859.

In studies carried out in irrigate rice fields, located at Rio Guárico Irrigation System (R.G.I.S), and the National Agricultural Research Institute of Guárico State (INIA-Guárico) the specie of insects turned out to be. The objective was to determine the population fluctuation and the damage of rice leaf bug, Trigonotylus tenuis in rice fields. For the field work, the entomological mesh was used making five passes of entomological network per sampled point and the damage was determined in 0.5 m2. The bedbug presented population peaks during the months of June and July, coinciding with the winter season and generally at 30, 83 and 90 days of age. Its population density was related to the stage of development of the crop, with the greatest number of adult insects being found during the vegetative and reproductive phases in the main varieties of rice cultivated in the area. The percentage of leafs affected by the rice leaf bug was very low, ranging between 1.55%, and 4.33% during the rainy season. The rice leaf bug which has registered in the Guárico states and Portuguesa. One describes his general characteristics of the insect and their damage in the culture.
