DE URIOSTE VIDAURRE, Mary Cruz  e  FERNANDEZ COX, Claudia Eva. Gender differences in family conciliation, in the double bind of being a mother or father and a university student. A quantitative study in five cities in Bolivia. Rev. aportes de la comunicación [online]. 2024, n.37, pp.25-40. ISSN 2306-8671.  https://doi.org/10.56992/a.v1i37.485.

The purpose of this study is to make visible the experiences of men and women, whose lives are crossed by their dual role of being fathers and mothers in university life. Quantitative re- search carried out in five cities in Bolivia in 11 public and private universities. It analyzes the emotional states that are addressed for family reconciliation and self-perception about their studies, support networks and existing university policies. The results achieved make evident some of the situations such as the economic difficulties that women and men who are parents in university life go through. The university as a social support network is perceived negatively above older mothers, but not by fathers. Their financial situation is difficult. The family is the most important support network to both economically and in containment.

Palavras-chave : family conciliation; social networks; emotional states; double role mothers-fathers students.
