HOLLWEG, Mario Gabriel. Delincuentes Normales. Rev. aportes de la comunicación [online]. 2024, n.36, pp.135-143. ISSN 2306-8671. https://doi.org/10.56992/a.v1i36.472.
This essay examines the complexity of the relationship between normality and criminality, challenging the traditional perception that only individuals with evident pathologies can commit crimes. Inspired by the works of Cesare Lombroso and continued by theorists such as Enrico Ferri and Benigno Di Tullio, this work delves into the study of "normal" or "common" criminals, those whose criminal acts do not stem from previous criminological backgrounds, but from specific personal and contextual circumstances. Through a theoretical review and detailed classifications, it highlights how intertwined psychological, sociocultural, and environmental factors can predispose seemingly normal individuals towards delinquency. Furthermore, it addresses "Popular Psychology" or "Common Sense," illustrating how conformity with idealized sociocultural norms and models can influence criminal behaviors. This analysis seeks not only to shed light on the shadows surrounding the notion of "normal" criminality but also to promote a more empathetic and nuanced approach to understanding human behavior, with implications for fairer and more effective justice and rehabilitation systems.
