CUPUL AGUILAR, Rocío Zac-Nicté  e  GOMEZ XUFFI, Yanahui Guadalupe. Presence of the Female Candidates in the Printed Press of the State of Campeche. Rev. aportes de la comunicación [online]. 2024, n.36, pp.53-72. ISSN 2306-8671.  https://doi.org/10.56992/a.v1i36.467.

Every day, women are forging new paths in which they venture, thereby setting precedents for their participation, many of them in hostile fields traditionally delegated exclusively to men. Electoral processes are no exception, as despite the existence of legal mechanisms ensuring gender parity, the reality poses more obstacles. The ideological precepts of a state or nation become evident when power and presence in spaces traditionally reserved for men are yielded. This is reflected in the media, and therefore, the objective of this research is to measure and analyze the treatment given to female candidates who participated in the 2021 electoral process in the state of Campeche. This includes elections for governorship, local deputy positions, members of municipal governments, and municipal boards, as covered by six printed newspapers in this state. The research employs a mixed-methods approach with a descriptive scope and non-experimental design, using a validated instrument consisting of 26 items (previously used in similar research). This instrument provides a diagnosis for the observed printed newspapers. The results indicate areas for improvement, such as granting greater limelight to female candidates in news articles, featuring them on the front pages, and prioritizing images where they stand out in their activities. Similarly, the research suggests giving more importance to the electoral process and, in turn, informing readers in a timely and objective manner. It also emphasizes the need to strengthen research in the journalistic field, especially in politics and gender, the focal point of the monitoring analysis.
