Resumen

MAJLUF IRUSTAT, Natalia; HANDAL ASBUN, Mirta W.  y  SCHULMEYER, Marion K.. Relationship between resilient personality and academic stress in humanities and engineering university students. Rev. aportes de la comunicación [online]. 2023, n.35, pp.53-66. ISSN 2306-8671.  https://doi.org/10.56992/a.v1i35.441.

In this study, the relationship between resilient personality and academic stress was investigated in a sample of 353 university students majoring in Humanities and Engineering in Bolivia. The assumption was made that engineering students exhibited a higher resilient personality than humanities students. The research was quantitative and cross-sectional, employing a descriptive-correlational design. Resilient personality was measured using the Resilient Personality Scale, while academic stress assessment utilized the SISCO Academic Stress Questionnaire. The results revealed significant relationships between resilient personality and academic stress in students from both areas of study. Specifically, correlations were found between resilient personality and academic stress in the dimensions of control and coping strategies, commitment and coping strategies, as well as the frequency of stress with coping strategies and response to stimuli. In conclusion, this study provides evidence of the connection between resilient personality and academic stress in Humanities and Engineering students, emphasizing the importance of considering co- ping ability and emotional control in the academic context.
