Abstract Tourism in the socioeconomic development of rural localities with living standards below one observed in the city, represents the main engine and means that they use to positively improve their quality of life. In the present study, with a quantitative approach and a descriptive level, there was a sample made up of 36 households that make up an average of 4 individuals from the Cocachimba Annex, a town that addresses the second most important tourist attraction in the Amazonas region, as indicated by They are the Gocta Waterfalls, which have been subject to the implementation, by the regional authorities, of a tourist offer that encourages the visit of natio-nals and foreigners. In relation to this, the investigation concluded in the positive contribution of the tourist activity in the socioeconomic development of the locality, since, aspects such as em-ployment generation (89%) and the entrepreneurship of new businesses (92%), better access to basic services (72%), education (61%) and communication routes (81%), represented the main factors where tourism has had a very positive participation (75%); also having training to provide a better tourist service (81%), causing the community to be enthusiastic and positively exalted when tourism is concerned (53%)
