Resumen

LEVANO CASTRO, Sofía. The Complex Nature of Translation Research. Rev. aportes de la comunicación [online]. 2023, n.34, pp.117-130. ISSN 2306-8671.

Abstract Recognizing the complexity of Translation Studies is the starting point for a better understanding of the problems and specific features surrounding research on the translator and translation. This article explores the complex nature of translation research from the analysis of its scientific, inter-disciplinary and multidisciplinary character to the problems related to the definition of its object of study. We believe that an awareness of the ontological and epistemological problems that derive from its status as a social and human science and the diversity of methodological approaches used in its research will allow us to improve translation research practice and to eradicate studies that lack solid conclusions and present vague representations of reality

Palabras clave : Translation research; complexity; ontology; epistemology and methodology.
