Abstract

CORREA V., Loreto. Final elements for understanding the Silala Case between Chile and Bolivia. Rev. aportes de la comunicación [online]. 2023, n.34, pp.49-68. ISSN 2306-8671.

Abstract The purpose of this article is to deepen the relationship between Bolivia and Chile, taking the case of the Silala River and the allegations made in the International Court of Justice. The text shows that the relationship between Chile and Bolivia maintains binational tensions. In this sense, it is ar-gued that the supposed "zone of peace" between Chile and Bolivia constitutes a mere absence of war. The text, made based on the presentations in the oral arguments of April 2022 and based on documentation f rom the States, presents the context, characteristics and effects of this lawsuit in the current international context and the notion of "zone of peace" in the South American region

Keywords : Chile; Bolivia; Silala's Arguments; Peace Zone.
