Abstract The article analyzes the election of the indigenous assembly members of Santa Cruz, their le-gislative management and their relationship with their bases and organizations between January 2021 and June 2022. The investigation, through the bibliographic and newspaper review, the interviews and The non-participant observation record identifies that the difficulties in the par-ticipation and political representation of the indigenous peoples were caused in that period by the organic crisis that most of the indigenous organizations in the department of Santa Cruz are going through, the interference of political parties politicians in said organizations, the lack of a common legislative agenda in the indigenous bench in the departmental assembly and the lack of clear organic mandates for the representatives of the indigenous peoples, among other causes
