Abstract  This work consists of a set of comments to Enrique Gandía's work "Santa Cruz de la Sierra, una República en Sudamérica" presented in 1935 at the conclusion of the Chaco War, a war between Bolivia and Paraguay. It is a summary of ideas that show a book marked by the geopolitical interests of Paraguay and Argentina that fought to provoke a great separatist movement in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Inconsistencies are evidenced in a book that predicted the separation of Santa Cruz because of the non-coincidence with the ethnographic limits of the Santa Cruz peoples, in addition to theincompatibility of the tradition of history and the injustice of the central State with respect to the interests of Santa Cruz
