Abstract The study of the problems of veterans, as well as the solutions provided by state and private organizations, are applicable (with certain parameters) to the generality of the main Latin American war conflicts during the second half of the 19th century. This problem, although distant in its origin, does not lose its validity. The present study is an analysis of the reinsertion of Bolivian veterans of the Pacific War and the intervention of the national authorities in the legal and social aspects of this process
