Abstract

GISMONDI DIAZ, Renzo. Symptomatology of inattention and hyperactivity and its relation with academic achievement in first semester college students. Rev. aportes de la comunicación [online]. 2022, n.32, pp.35-54. ISSN 2306-8671.

Abstract This paper was made with the purpose of comparing the academic performance between college students that reported inattention or hyperactivity symptoms and their pairs without symptoms, in a sample of 398 freshman students from “Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz de la Sierra” (UPSA) in August of 2020. Self-report instruments were used to detect the student’s symptoms and compare them with their college, school grades and with their final score on the mathematics school subject. The students who reported symptoms had a lower mathematic and school score than their pairs; but no significant difference was found while comparing college scores

Keywords : Inattention; hyperactivity; academic performance; college students.
