Abstract The present essay of political philosophy intends to explain the idea of the right of resistence in its various forms, and to look into the assumptions that justify it. For this reason, it proceeds to expound on the main exponents of the right of resistence throughout the history of philosophy. In it, the author sets forth themes like tyrannicide, civil disobedience, conscientious objection and the revolution of the United States.
