Abstract

MURILLO DENCKER, Juan. [ or The Art of Dying Well ]. Rev. aportes de la comunicación [online]. 2020, n.28, pp.15-22. ISSN 2306-8671.

Abstract Literature is a kind of memory sustained throughout history, although most of the times condemned to oblivion in the unconscious of citizens. Amid metaphors and allegories, canonical works gain presence in the face of events that question the very reason for the human condition. To think that in "those other times" human beings were in worse conditions than we are today, is a wrong interpretation. Through an insightful reading of great classics such as "The Decameron" and "The thousand nights and one nigth", it is concluded from our own subjectivity that individuals and society are far from ennobling; impoverished their values and altered by their perception of reality, they exhibit a particular way of social behavior.

Keywords : Decameron; plague; pandemic; death; aesthetics.
