Abstract A qualitative analysis of how the process of discovery and appointment of their identity by lesbian women is performed, as a fundamental component for the development of their personality and interaction with people in their context. The methodology is mainly oriented from the biographical approach based on the life stories of seven women. The research results aim to understand the relationship between the ¡dentity and the discovery of the lesbian category as an element of congruence between self-concept and the choice of partner.
