Abstract This essay considers the challenges of translating poetry, focusing on the work of literary translator, Katherine M. Hedeen. In addition to sharing personal experiences and explaining her own approach to translation, Hedeen expands on the current state of poetry translation in both the U.S. and Latin America. She pays close attention to translation's socio-political aspects and considers the ethical dimensions of translating Spanish American poetry.
