Abstract Backed by three years of university happening biweekly emission, Eca news was one of the most stable productions of Communications Faculty students in the Jaime Isaza Cadavid Polytechnic. It started as a response to a political conjuncture which   placed   it   in   the   alternative   journalism domain.  University composed most of its contents and it gradually emerged as students’ information space. The way in which it operated allowed it to become faculty’s informal laboratory in journalism, news coverage, special reports, interviews, chronics, reportages and television broadcast. Entitled “Alternative student university journalism. Case: Eca News: Investigation journalism and new technologies for information and communication”, this research aimed to account for subjective factors  in  news  broadcast  production  as  well  as to understand journalistic routine conditions. In order to do this, results from a survey and record technics that systematize data from emissions and contents were employed.
