Resumen

GAMBOA, Isabel. Men are to reason what women are to heart: Gender and Sex according to Inmanuel Kant. Rev. aportes de la comunicación [online]. 2016, n.21, pp.75-79. ISSN 2306-8671.

The objective of this essay is to discuss philosopher Immanuel Kant's thoughts on the role of women in the exercise of life. After the analysis of many of his works, we can conclude that, for this philosopher, women, in contrast with men, have a weakness for passions; therefore, it is convenient that they remain within certain limits within the home, specifically occupying themselves with domestic tasks. Thus, the importance of this essay lies in its critical examination of some of the ontological and epistemological categories of western philosophy, which continué to be accepted and justify a classification of women as underage and subject to permanent guardianship.

Palabras clave : Sex; gender; Philosophy; passions; responsibilities.
