Abstract Here we recount Luis Ramiro Beltran's experience as press ombudsman of eight Bolivian newspapers between 2003 and 2005, as well as the challenges he faced in his work. Fascination, illusion, uneasiness, frustration, discomfort, satisfaction and hope: these were the feelings he experienced.
