Abstract

E. MELELLA, Cecilia. Migration, media and identity construction: Renacer, a newspaper of the Bolivian community in Argentina. Rev. aportes de la comunicación [online]. 2013, n.16, pp.15-22. ISSN 2306-8671.

From the first European immigrants arrived into Argentina in the mid-nineteenth century, the print media has been one of the main resources that these immigrants have used to communicate, to express ideas and needs, to build their identity and make themselves visible in new society. Today, many of those early newspapers no longer exist, but have been emerged new ones like the newspaper Renacer from the Bolivian community. This paper studies, from communicational-semiotic analysis of the front pages, the construction of identity at the Renacer newspaper.

Keywords : Mass media; migration; identity.
